iAMP INF/RSV Detection Kit
The iAMP INF/RSV Detection Kit uses a simple, extraction-free workflow to deliver results in under 90 minutes. This kit is intended to detect and differentiate influenza A, B, and RSV in a single assay from a single swab.
Current detection of Flu and RSV mostly requires extraction of nucleic acids from the viruses for downstream detection.
Influenza (Flu) and RSV are contagious respiratory illnesses that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms which make it difficult to differentiate between them based on the symptoms alone. Flu has been reported to affect 8% of the US population each season and RSV has led to at least 100 deaths in young children.
They can cause mild to severe complications, and at times can lead to death. Recent study also reported coinfection of flu and RSV produce hybrid virus to evade immune defenses. Effective identification of the virus is therefore crucial to contain the diseases and prevent the possible complications.
