Atila Gender Determination Kit
The Atila Gender Determination Kit is a real-time nucleic acid amplification assay for the in vitro detection of Y chromosome gene from cell-free fetal DNA circulating in the mother’s bloodstream during pregnancy. This test can be used to determine the baby’s gender from as early as 6-8 weeks of gestation. The presence of Y chromosome gene indicates a male baby, while the absence of Y chromosome gene indicates a female baby. It is not intended for general health screening or for use as the sole basis of diagnosis without clinical correlation.
The Atila Gender Determination Kit is intended for use by qualified laboratory professionals who have been specifically trained in real-time nucleic acid amplification techniques.
Each kit includes 100 tests.
This product is for research use only (RUO).
Atila Gender Determination Kit
The discovery of cell-free fetal DNA from the mother’s plasma during pregnancy has made it possible to determine the baby’s gender without using invasive methods such as chorionic villus sampling or relying on ultrasonography which cannot be done in the first trimester. The concentration of cell-free fetal DNA in maternal plasma corresponds to 3.4% (range 0.39%–11.9%) and 6.2% (range 2.33%–11.4%) of the total plasma DNA in early and late pregnancy respectively, making real-time PCR using cell-free fetal DNA a reliable noninvasive method for fetal gender determination.
The Atila Gender Determination Kit is a multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay based on proprietary technology designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of fetal gender determination. Multiple sets of oligonucleotides are specifically designed to detect Y chromosome genes as well as an internal control gene. The presence of the Y chromosome gene in maternal plasma cell-free DNA indicates a male baby, while the absence indicates a female baby.
