Urethral Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the fifth most common healthcare-associated infection, and if left untreated can lead to a serious kidney infection. Each year, 8 to 10 million hospital visits are for UTIs. Current culture-based methods for the identification of UTI pathogens often lack sensitivity and accuracy and can take days to yield results.

Atila’s iAMP® UISolution Assay is a rapid, accurate, and affordable isothermal assay that can detect and identify 15 groups of common UTI pathogens by the presence of their DNA in a urine sample. This technology can detect pathogens that are sometimes missed by culture methods and delivers results in 90 minutes.

Urethral Tract
Sample Types

  • Urine specimens processed and tested with iAMP UISoluton Assay.
  • Direct urine specimens without any preservatives.Note: Clean-catch urine specimens are highly recommended.
  • Direct dry wound swab specimens collected by clinicians with Atila Swab Sample Collection Device (iAMP-SWA-SCD). Alternatively, specimens collected with sample collection devices from other vendors may be used after self-validation.
  • Wound swab specimens collected in transport medium (with sample collection devices from other vendors) may be used after self-validation.
