Respiratory viruses are responsible for influenza-like illness morbidity, and can cause the common cold, impacting millions of people worldwide, especially children and immunocompromised patients. Certain respiratory viruses of interest are respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinovirus, enterovirus, coronaviruses (including SARS and MERS CoV), adenoviruses, and parainfluenza viruses. Many of these viruses cause respiratory diseases with similar symptoms, and as a result, it is important to be able to accurately differentiate and diagnose the illness. Hence, highly specific testing is of utmost importance. The current approach requires nucleic acid extraction from the viruses which is time consuming and costly.
Our RPP uses a simple, extraction-free workflow to deliver results in under 90 minutes. This kit is intended to detect and differentiate between various viruses such as influenza A, B, and SARS-CoV-2, RSV A, B, and many others in a single assay from a single swab. Our assay provides excellent sensitivity and is compatible with commonly used RT-qPCR instruments.
