Antimicrobial Resistance

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to antimicrobial medicines. The WHO has declared that AMR is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity. With an absence of a comprehensive effort to combat emerging drug resistance, infections due to multidrug resistant organisms are predicted to be the leading cause of death worldwide by 2050.

To combat and control the spread of resistant pathogens, fast, robust, and affordable antimicrobial resistance assays are highly desired. To fulfill this unmet need, Atila Biosystems developed a simple iAMP isothermal Drug Resistance Panel, using innovative technologies to allow laboratories to detect drug-resistant bacteria from urine and wound samples at high speed and at a reasonable cost.

Drug Resistance
Sample Types

  • Urine specimens processed and tested with iAMP UISoluton Assay.
  • Direct urine specimens without any preservatives.Note: Clean-catch urine specimens are highly recommended.
  • Direct dry wound swab specimens collected by clinicians with Atila Swab Sample Collection Device (iAMP-SWA-SCD). Alternatively, specimens collected with sample collection devices from other vendors may be used after self-validation.
  • Wound swab specimens collected in transport medium (with sample collection devices from other vendors) may be used after self-validation.

Drug Resistance
Sample Types

  • Vaginal/cervical swab collected as dry swabs or in 1X iAMP Sample Buffer.
  • Vaginal/cervical swab collected in commonly used transport medium.
  • First-void urine specimen without any preservatives.
